Supply Chain Manager

Innovative Engineering & Manufacturing Business
Lincolnshire | £60,000–£68,000 DOE | Full-time, Permanent

Ready to take ownership of a growing supply chain?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fast-growing engineering and manufacturing business supplying innovative machinery to customers across the UK and Europe.

The business is entering an exciting period of growth and investing in its people, systems and infrastructure. As Supply Chain Manager, you’ll play a key role in building a procurement function capable of supporting that growth.

This is a high-autonomy role reporting directly to the business owner, with responsibility for a Buyer and genuine influence over how the supply chain develops.

The opportunity

This is much more than a traditional purchasing role.

You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end procurement operation, working closely with production and senior leadership to improve planning, supplier performance, purchasing strategy and cost control.

The business currently works with a broad supplier base across the UK, Europe and Asia, with significant growth expected in purchasing volumes over the coming years.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and improve Material Requirements Planning (MRP) within the company’s ERP system

  • Drive the transition from reactive stock replenishment to build-requirement purchasing

  • Negotiate and manage long-term supplier agreements covering cost, lead times, packaging and quality

  • Develop, consolidate and optimise the supplier base

  • Identify and onboard new suppliers as the business scales

  • Monitor and report supplier delivery performance against agreed dates

  • Track cost movements across the bought-in bill of materials

  • Manage Asian sourcing, supported by an established colleague overseas, including occasional international travel

  • Build the procurement resource plan to support future growth

  • Identify opportunities to use AI, automation and improved processes to increase efficiency without simply increasing headcount

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain within engineering or machine manufacturing

  • Experience managing complex supply chains involving hundreds or thousands of component lines

  • Strong understanding of MRP and ERP systems

  • Proven experience developing long-term supplier relationships and negotiating commercial agreements

  • Strong Excel and analytical skills

  • A genuine interest in AI, automation and process improvement

  • The confidence to work comfortably on the factory floor as well as in a more strategic capacity

Desirable: experience sourcing from Asia, agricultural, construction or off-highway machinery, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or a recognised supply chain qualification such as CIPS.

Why join?

This is an opportunity to join a successful, ambitious manufacturing business at an important stage of its growth.

You’ll have the autonomy to shape the procurement function, influence supplier strategy and introduce smarter ways of working — with direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to make a tangible impact.
